Chinese Characters Writing Camp

27 March 2011 – Mandarin Language & Culture Centre (MLCC) and Mandarin Language Society (MLS) organized a Chinese Character Writing Camp on 27 March 2011 for UMP students who are currently attending Intermediate Mandarin Course. The main objective of the camp is to introduce Chinese character art to UMP students. The Chinese Character Writing Camp was launched by Mohd Zaki Ahmad, the Cultural Officer of UMP. Among the guests of honors included Noor Afiza Mohd Asmi, the representative from Student Affairs and Alumni Department (SAFFAD), Chong Ah Kow, MLCC Coordinator and Yong Ying Mei, Mandarin Language Society (MLS ) advisor. During the camp, Yong Ying Mei delivered a spectacular and informative lecture to the audience and demonstrated the Chinese Character to the students. Nevertheless, the audience was awed and enlightened with the demonstration. The writing skills of the participants were assessed at the end of the Camp and the winners included: First Prize: Surain Sazali (AA 08043), Second Prize: Nur Afiqah Fatihah Hamidun (AA08068), Third Prize: Siti Aishah Jamil (AA08028), Fourth Place: Nur Aishah Omar@Yahya (AA08161) and Fifth Place: Marissa Norfis Omar Firdaus Kumar (CA08073). This event was launched by the Dean of CMLHS, Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil Borham. Towards the end of the event, Chong Ah Kow as the coordinator of MLCC gave a final and memorable touch to the event by delivering awards and prizes to the participants to close the ceremony. |
