Welcome to the portal of Confucius Institute UMP.

Learning Mandarin becomes trendy throughout the world nowadays as a result of the booming economy of its country of origin, China, in the last two decades. In Asean countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, which are the neighbourhood of China and have close economic relationship between them, the demand for the language is sure to be greater. Farsighted leaders of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) had foreseen the trend and acted to set up the Confucius Institute (CI) in 2018 to cater for the expected uprising demand in near future.

Currently, CI UMP is offering general Mandarin courses, HSK Intensive courses, Mandarin for specific purpose courses. General Mandarin courses to enable students master Mandarin in four language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing based on syllabus of Chinese Proficiency Test (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi HSK). General Mandarin courses namely Mandarin 1, Mandarin 2, Mandarin 3A, Mandarin 3B, Mandarin 4A, Mandarin 4B, Mandarin 5A, Mandarin 5B, Mandarin 6A, Mandarin 6B, Conversational Mandarin 1, Conversational Mandarin 2, Chinese Characters 1, Chinese Characters 2, Mandarin for kids and Chinese Arts.

HSK Intensive courses expose techniques and strategies of HSK test. The courses namely HSK 1 Intensive, HSK 2 Intensive, HSK 3 Intensive, HSK 4 Intensive, HSK 5 Intensive and HSK 6 Intensive. Candidates to know their strengths and weakness, then concentrate preparation on any weak areas. Candidates will be trained to practice through mock tests.

Mandarin for specific purpose is design Mandarin course for specific areas namely Workplace Mandarin, Railway Mandarin, Industrial Mandarin, TVET Mandarin, Overview China, Chinese Culture, Chinese Etiquette and etc.

Besides language learning programs, CI UMP also organizes Mandarin language and culture activities inter-varsities and inter-schools such as Mandarin Speaking Competition, Chinese Cultural Exhibition, Mandarin Proficiency Competition and etc. The objective of conducting these activities is to provide a platform for the learners to practice and enhance their learning of Mandarin language and Chinese culture.

College, university and industry are welcome to collaborate with CI UMP to provide Mandarin courses and co-organise Mandarin activity, Chinese culture activities, workshop related to Mandarin and Chinese culture and etc.
