Mandarin Speaking Competition UMP Selection
Friday, 19 October 2012|Chong Ah Kow Mandarin Speaking Competition UMP Selection On 17 and 18 October 2012, MLCC and Mandarin Language Society organized a participant selection program to select UMP’s representatives for the Inter Varsity Mandarin Speaking Competition 2012, which will be held on 6 and 7 November 2012 at UMP. A total of 33 students took part in the selection, which was carried out in two stages. The preliminary round was conducted on 17 October to pick five finalists who competed in the final round on 18 October to determine their final placing. Professor Dr. Abd Jalil Borham, the CMLHS Dean, was invited to officiate the selection competition. In his opening speech, he encouraged the students to learn at least another foreign language other than Malay and English in order to be more competitive in the job market in this era of globalization. He wanted the successful participants to train hard for the Inter Varsity competition. Dr. Aini Ahmad, Head of Foreign Languages Department, CMLHS closed the program. Dr. Andrew Tse Yau Hau, Chong Ah Kow, Yong Ying Mei, Liu Xu, Yuan Jie and Zhang Cuicui formed the board of judges for the selection. Successful candidates to represent UMP for the Inter Varsity Mandarin Speaking Competition 2012 include: Jamunaa Patchappan (CA 10036), Raja Nur Shahira Raja Sharudin (AA 10209), Siti Khairunisah Samblih (SA 10037), Mohd Saddam Hassan (PA 10017), Fazlin Zainal (EC 11054), Siti Mardiah Mustaffa (CB 11001), Elvina Clarie Dullah (SB 10103) and Rehan Zainol Abidin (SA 10008). |
