Inter-Varsity Mandarin Speaking Competition 2012
Due to globalization, bilingualism becomes a norm these days. Learning a second language would not hinder one’s patriotism towards the country, but it would only enhance one’s capability to understand and communicate with the world. These were the points highlighted by the Honorable Dato’ Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia during his opening speech at the Inter-Varsity Mandarin Speaking Competition 2012 at UMP. Since Chinese language is now the second most popular language next to English in terms of Internet usage and printed publications, he urged the contesters to continue learning Mandarin in order to benefit from the advanced development of China. |
