MLCC representative Jamunaa A/P Patchappan (CA10036), a 3rd year student from Faculty Computer Systems & Software Engineering, grasped two awards in “The 12th ‘Chinese Bridge’ – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students 2013” in Hunan, China. Jamunaa was nominated to represent Malaysia for The 12th Chinese Bridge competition held in Hunan from 1 July until 12 July 2013. She won the Performance Award and the Elegant Demeanour Award, besides a scholarship to study Mandarin in China. The competition consisted of a series of tests including quiz in Chinese culture, interview, talent show in Chinese arts and a public speech. Jamunaa presented a “Peacock dance” on talent show and gave a speech on “My Appointment with Chinese Bridge”. |

“The 12th Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students 2013” was organized by headquarter of Kong Zi Institute or Hanban, China. The competition was held in two stages: first at regional level where regional representative would be selected for the grand final competition in China. Jamunaa was the champion of the competition for Malaysia region held on 11 May 2013 at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 123 competitors from 79 countries took part in the competition. They were put into five categories namely Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Australia based on their home country. Yong Ying Mei was appointed as the trainer as well as the companion teacher for Jamunaa in this event. |
