Mandarin Language & Cultural Carnival Opening Ceremony
Thursday, 12 March 2015|Cheng Ching Yee Edited by:Faridah Hamzah Mandarin Language & Cultural Carnival Opening Ceremony Mandarin Language and Cultural Centre (MLCC) in collaboration with Mandarin Language Society (MLS) had organized an event called ‘Mandarin Language and Cultural Carnival’ from 9 to 13 March in conjunction with Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Open Day 2015. Several cultural activities such as ‘Taichi Demonstration’, ‘Angpao Cutting and Decoration’, ‘Chinese Calligraphy Competition’, ‘CNY Cake Preparation’ and ‘Yushang Preparation’ were introduced throughout the week. The Opening Ceremony was officiated by the Acting Dean of Centre of Modern Language and Human Sciences, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Nubli bin Abdul Wahab. In his speech, he emphasized that learning through experiences was important. He encouraged UMP students to get involved in different language and cultural activities to nurture the bond between races. Earlier, the Director of MLCC, Mr. Chong Ah Kow, expressed his gratitude to the management level of UMP for supporting MLCC’s programs in the welcoming speech. Also present at the opening ceremony was calligraphy Master Hor Chin Sim. The other attendees of the opening ceremony were Volunteer Language Teachers Mr Chang Xiaobo, Mr Wang XiaoZhi, Ms Cui Mengjie, Mandarin Teachers Ms.Cheng Ching Yee, Ms Yong Ying Mei, Mdn Kang Mei Feng and Malay Teacher, Ms Jamilah Bebe. |
