Smart Partnership Mandarin Learning Programme
Smart Partnership Mandarin Learning Programme Mandarin Language Culture Centre (MLCC) and Foreign Languages Department of CMLHS had organized a Smart Partnership Mandarin Learning Programme on 11th May 2016. Thirty Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) undergraduates who attended Mandarin courses at the university participated in the event. They were accompanied by another 30 primary students from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Kong Min, an excellent cluster school in Kuantan. The event was held at Tun Teja Hall, UMP Gambang Campus from 2 pm to 5 pm.The main objectives of the event were to motivate the students of the excellent cluster school to excel in their learning and to create an environment for UMP undergraduates to converse in Mandarin with the school students. The programme kicked off with the welcoming speech by Yong Ying Mei, the Director of MLCC. The programme was officiated by Dr. Hafizoah Kassim, the Deputy Dean of Research & Development, CMLHS. The closing speech was delivered by Lai Nyik Lee, assistant headmaster from SJK (C) Kong Min. Also present were Kang Mei Feng, the Smart Partnership programme director, Cheng Ching Yee, language teachers from CMLHS, Sun Yun Feng, Wang Wen Ying and Ju Meng, volunteer teachers from Hanban, China. The programme began with an ice-breaking activity, followed by language games such as “zhao pengyou” (find your friend) and “zhi zuo ci yu ka” (flash card making). Later, the participants were brought to visit the laboratory of Faculty of Industrial Sciences & Technology (FIST), coordinated by Dr. Chong Kwok Feng.
