Chinese Arts – A Fun Learning Session
Mandarin Language and Culture Centre organized Chinese Arts course for UMP students from 1 March 2017 until 29 March 2017 on every Wednesday. Chinese Arts course is intended to enthusiasts of Chinese culture and arts.
According to Yong Ying Mei, Director of MLCC, students were exposed to variable Chinese arts learning, including Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese songs, Chinese tea art, using chopsticks, Chinese painting and Chinese opera mask making. Except for the skills, cultural background of these arts is also taught to students, which helps them develop deeper knowledge of Chinese arts. Farah Aqilah binti Mustafa, student from Faculty of Civil Engineering & Earth Resources expressed her enthusiasm after completing the course. She claimed that she gained valuable experiences in practicing the skills of Chinese Arts. Khairunnisa binti Che Hassan, a Computer Systems & Software Engineering student stated her gratefulness as the course had developed her creative thinking skills through learning Chinese arts such as Chinese painting. The course instructor, Ms Zhang Weiqing (volunteer language teacher from Hanban, China) had shown her passion in teaching as she demonstrated the Chinese arts in person.
