UMP students received Confucius Scholarship for ASEAN Youth Summer Camp 2017
Three Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) students received the Confucian Scholarship for ASEAN Youth Summer Camp 2017 at Guizhou Minzu University, China for two weeks beginning on 27 July until 9 August 2017. Confucian Scholarship for ASEAN Youth Summer Camp 2017 was a program for A total of 300 selected candidates from ASEAN countries took part in the ASEAN Youth Summer Camp 2017. The selected candidates that represented UMP were Farah Aqilah Mustafa (AA13234), Tharushini A/P Thiagarajan (AA13266), and Khairunnisa Che Hassan (CB14139). Three candidates passed with flying colours in HSK Level 3 tests which qualified them to be selected for the scholarship. The Director of Mandarin Languge and Culture Centre (MLCC), Miss Yong Ying Mei said that these students “showed their hard work and dedication in enrolling for non-credit Mandarin course organised by MLCC”. The UMP representatives were exposed to a series of Chinese cultural activities, Chinese history seminars, and Chinese language practical lectures during the two-week summer camp in order to enhance the mutual understanding and communication among the youths, to deepen the intercollegiate cooperation, and to push forward the common development of economy and culture among China and ASEAN countries. Miss Yong Ying Mei expressed her gratitude to all Mandarin teachers and staff, including Ms Cheng Ching Yee, Madam Kang Mei Feng, Ms Ju Meng, Ms Shao Zhenglan, Ms Sun Yunfeng, Ms Zhang Weiqing and Madam Nornashua Farhani Binti Abdul Ghaffar for their effort in training and preparing the UMP candidates in the application process of this scholarship.
