Mandarin class students won Multilingual Singing Competition in International Fiesta
28-29 October 2017 – Mandarin students took part in the Multilingual Singing Competition in UMP International Fiesta 2017 which was held at Sports Complex, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Gambang Campus. Muhammad Ameen Bin Abdul Azis (CB14047) was the singing champion and Ag Ku Afiq Ikhwan bin Ag Jaafar (AA15164) was the 2nd runner up. Both candidates sang Mandarin songs.In addition, Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC) in collaboration with Mandarin Language Society (MLS) had set up an exhibition booth at the event to introduce MLCC, MLS, Mandarin courses and the Chinese culture to the event goers. The elements of Chinese culture introduced at the booth include Chinese knot, Chinese paper cutting, Chinese tea, Chinese attire and chopsticks. One of the many activities prepared at the booth include the introduction on the correct use of chopsticks. Once briefed, the visitors have to use the chopsticks to pick up 10 small peas and once successful, visitors were given candies as tokens. The activity attracted many visitors to come to the booth and has peaked their interest and curiosity towards the Chinese culture.
