CNY Chinese Dumpling Demonstration

31 January 2018 - Mandarin Language & Culture Centre (MLCC) organised a Chinese New Year (CNY) Chinese dumpling demonstration for Mandarin students. The Chinese dumpling demonstration was demonstrated by three volunteer teachers from Hanban, China, namely Jin Yongxin, Wang Xuemei and Deng Xingmei.

Students from the Mandarin class involved consist of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as UMP staff and secondary finishing school students. Those involved expressed their excitement for the opportunity to make Chinese dumplings and eat them using chopsticks for the first time. Chinese Dumpling is a type of CNY food which is most popular in China during Chinese New Year. Making dumplings together with the whole family during Chinese New Year symbolises family reunion and harmony.

Also present were Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director of MLCC), Ms. Hooi Yan Yee, Mr. Tan Wai Chung (Mandarin Teachers of CMLHS) and Madam Nornashua Farhani Binti Abdul Ghaffar (Administrative Assistant).
