A Meaningful Visit to Chinese New Year Open House

On 16th February 2018, which was the first day of Chinese New Year, Mandarin Language & Culture Centre (MLCC) organised a visit to Chinese New Year open house at Dato’ Sri Lee Jin Xian’s house. He is the President of Malaysian Chinese Culture Association for Pahang branch.

The programme was led by Madam Nornashua Farhani Binti Abdul Ghaffar (administrative assistant of MLCC). The trip consists of 11 students exchange from Ningxia University and 2 students exchange from Hebei University of Science & Technology (HEBUST). Also present were Dr. Jiang Xiaoxia (visiting lecturer of Ningxia University), Prof. Liu Rurang (visiting Professor of Beijing Jiaotong University in Rail Industry Academy, UMP), Mr. Fu Hao, Ms. Han Xiaona (visiting lecturers of Beijing Jiaotong University in Rail Industry Academy, UMP), Ms. Deng Xingmei, Ms. Jing Yongxin and Ms. Wang Xuemei (volunteers language teachers from Hanban, China).

All students, visiting lecturers and Professor from China expressed their excitement for the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year in Malaysia. Every guest really enjoyed the celebration especially when they received ang pao from the host. Mouthwatering Chinese, Malay as well as vegetarian cuisine were served to all guests on that very special day. Besides, they also had the chance to watch the lion dance performance and observed the way Chinese greeted each other during Chinese New Year.
