23 February 2018 – Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC) and Mandarin Language Society (MLS) had organised a Chinese New Year Cultural Programme by setting up exhibition booths at Astaka Hall, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Gambang campus. On-site exhibitions include Chinese New Year scrolls writing, paper-cutting, flower blossom blow painting and ang pau artifact. This programme had received encouraging responses from students who are taking Mandarin courses from Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC) and Foreign Language Department, Centre for Modern Language and Human Sciences (CMLHS). Students had the chance to experience the unique features of Chinese art and create the pieces of art themselves which is popular in Malaysia during Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year cultural art was demonstrated by four volunteer teachers from China, namely Ms. Cai Haixia, Ms. Deng Xingmei, Ms. Jin Yongxin and Ms. Wang Xuemei. This programme had attracted many non-Chinese students to visit and experience the Chinese culture. Students involved expressed their excitement for opportunity to do Chinese New Year cultural arts for the first time. Also present were Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director of MLCC), Madam Kang Mei Feng, Ms. Hooi Yan Yee, Mr. Tan Wai Chung (Mandarin teachers) and Madam Nornashua Farhani Binti Abdul Ghaffar (Administrative Assistant).
