UMP Student Awarded the republic of China Scholarship for Shanghai Polytechnic University Summer Camp 2018

Kuantan - Fahmi Muhamad Rasyid from Faculty Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) received the Republic of China Scholarship for Shanghai Polytechnic University Summer Camp 2018 for four weeks beginning on 18 June until 15 July 2018.

Fahmi was selected to join the summer camp after he won second runner up in Chinese Bridge Competition for Malaysia Region 2018 at Kong Zi Institute, University of Malaya in May 2018.

A total of 20 selected undergraduates from 11 countries, namely Malaysia. Russia, Korea, Belgium, Perancis, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Thailand, United Kingdom and Kenya took part in Chinese Language and Cultural Summer Program.

Chinese Language and Cultural Summer Program was a program for non-native learners of Mandarin from universities all around the world for them to enhance the understanding and communication with native speakers. The participants were exposed to Chinese language classes and a series of Chinese culture learning, namely Chinese Tea, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese traditional medicine, Chinese culinary, Tai chi, lion dance and dragon dance. They visited factory of Chinese calligraphy brush and also a few museums at Su Zhou, Wu Zhen and Nanjing.

Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director of Mandarin Language and Culture Centre) expressed her gratitude to Student Affairs & Alumni Department (SAFFAD) of UMP for supporting UMP representatives to join this program. Besides that, Madam Nornashua Farhani Binti Abdul Ghaffar (MLCC Administrative Assistant) also showed the efforts in preparing the UMP candidates for the Summer program in China.
