Mandarin Learning Program with Kolej Vokasional Kuantan in UMP
Kuantan- 19 September 2018 A total of 33 students and 2 Mandarin teachers from Kolej Vokasional Kuantan (KVK) came to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to participate in Mandarin Learning Program organized by Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC).The program began with a dialogue session with UMP Mandarin teachers conducted by the director of MLCC, Ms. Yong Ying Mei - an introduction about MLCC was given in this session. An ice-breaking session was carried out next, conducted by Mr. Tan Wai Chung (Mandarin teacher), both students from KVK and UMP had the chance to get to know each other by introducing their team members using People Bingo in Mandarin.After the ice breaking session, Ms. Hooi Yan Yee conducted a Mandarin quiz session using Kahoot apps where the students were asked to work in pairs. The students really enjoyed themselves in the session. This could clearly be seen from their lively and cheerful faces while playing the quiz. The last session was on using chopsticks conducted by Ms. Yong where the students were given a brief introduction about chopsticks culture and the correct way to use chopsticks. The students then practised their newly learned skills by picking the snack provided using chopsticks. After all the sessions were over, prizes and souvenirs were given out to the winners of Mandarin quiz.The Mandarin teachers from KVK were Nor Rabiatul Adawiyah Bt Mohd Razlan dan Norzarina Bt Amran. Other CMLHS/MLCC staff who were also involved in the program were Ms. Deng Xingmei, Ms. Fan Naiyu, Ms. Yang Wenwen, Ms. Pan Jiashuang (UMP volunteer teachers from China) and Mdm Nornashua Farhani binti Abdul Ghaffar (Assistant Administrative officer).
