MLCC Visited the Industry for Industrial Mandarin Module Development

Kuantan, On 9 October 2018 – Ms. Yong Ying Mei, the Director of Mandarin Language and Culture Centre (MLCC) was invited to Alliance Steel (M) Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB) operating in Malaysia-China Kuantan Industry Park (MCKIP) Gebeng, Kuantan, Pahang for Industrial Mandarin module development.
Ms. Yong, assisted by Mr. Tan Wai Chung (CMLHS language teacher) and Ms. Deng Xingmei (Volunteer Language Teacher) had worked together to develop a module which is specially designed for steel industry. The Industrial Mandarin module was used in Industrial Mandarin Training for ASSB beginning from 1st November until 24th November 2018. The director was also the trainer of this training.
Ms. Yong was given a cordial reception by Human Resource Department, ASSB during her visit to the plant. She had also arranged few industrial plants to better understand the process of steel manufacturing and to learn the names of equipment used in the plant as part of the process in steel manufacturing. Besides that, she also interviewed the ASSB staff to understand their daily communication and communication problems in the industry.
A total of 30 staff of ASSB joined the course. Even though all of them have basic in Mandarin, but the technical terms in Mandarin cannot be learned elsewhere. The topics of the course were related to technical terms used in steel industry. The course designed was especially helpful for local staff who would like to understand technical terms better in Mandarin.
