Vice Chancellor Voiced to HANBAN of MLCC’s Intention to become Confucius Institute
Thursday, 5 November 2015|Chong Ah Kow Edited by: Mohd Shafeirul Zaman Bin Abd Majid Vice Chancellor Voiced to HANBAN of MLCC’s Intention to become Confucius Institute UMP and Hebei University Continue to Cooperate on MLCC’s Development On 21st to 23rd October 2015, MLCC organised a Strategic Networking Meeting with Hanban, Polytechnic College and Hebei University (HBU) in China. UMP representatives for the meeting included Dato’ Vice Chancellor, MLCC Director, Deputy Director of CAIC and Deputy Registrar of Vice Chancellor Office. The main objectives of the visit were to renew the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UMP and HBU on the development of MLCC and to extend the area of cooperation between the two universities. A MOA on Continuation Development of MLCC and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on credit transfer, joint research activities and exchange of faculty staff between UMP and HBU were signed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim, and Professor Fu Guangsheng, President of HBU. Earlier, representatives from both universities visited Headquarters of Confucius Institute, or Hanban, to discuss with its relevant officials on possibility to upgrade MLCC to become Confucius Institute. Delegates of UMP and HBU were cordially received by Mr. Hu Zhiping, Deputy Chief Executive of Hanban, Mr. Liu Bing and Mr. Wang Huichang, respenctively Director and Deputy Director of Development Planning Division of Hanban. During the meeting, Dato’ Vice Chancellor voiced to HANBAN of MLCC’s intention to become Confucius Institute and handed over an official application. Professor Yang Xuexin, Deputy Vice President of HBU, showed his support by mentioning that HBU has the capability in terms of staff and experience to cooperate with UMP in this matter. Meanwhile, Mr. Hu Zhiping expressed a warm welcome to the delegates, including representatives from Hebei University, and advised UMP and HBU to work together towards the objective. On 22nd October 2015, the UMP delegation took the opportunity to visit Polytechnic College of Hebei University of Science and Technology in Shijiazhuang, where they were warmly received by Professor Liu Chaoying, Executive Vice Dean, and Professor Ma Yinfeng, Party’s Secretary. An MOU on dual degree programme between the two institutions was signed. |
