UMP Students Had A Dialog On Working Culture In China Industry

On 9 November 2015, 10 students from various faculties in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) had a dialogue on working culture at Baoding Lizhong Wheel Manufacturing Co. Ltd., a tyre rim manufacturing industry in Hebei, China. The objectives of the programme are to communicate with the industry and to produce proficient individuals and professionals who are able to meet and exceed the requirements of the job market. The manufacturing company is practising 6S in the industry namely Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke and Safety. They are not only supplying tyre rim to China automobile but also to some other automobile industry abroad such as Mazda, Hyundai, BMW, Suzuki, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Kia, Ford, Audi, Volkswagen and etc. UMP students had showed their interest by actively asking questions in the dialogue. This manufacturing company also accepted industrial training for undergraduate students from Hebei and also hired some expatriate manager from Russia and Korea. UMP students gave positive feedback on having industrial training in this manufacturing factory in the future. They were also brought to visit the production line to observe the process of making tyre rim with the theory that they learnt in UMP. The dialogue on working culture in China industry had given a good experience for UMP students as they are becoming familiar of the working culture in the industry so that they can get prepared to work in the industry later on. Madam Wang Lixia, Head of Department of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, CIEE Hebei University, China is the main host of the programme, which is part of the arranged agenda in UMP students’ visit to China. Also present was Ms Yong Ying Mei, a senior language teacher in Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. This programme was conducted successfully and had achieved University objectives as well as KRA 1: Enhancement of Academic Quality, KRA 3: Socio-economic Development and KRA 4: Branding for Strategic Positioning. |
