The UMP Mandarin Language & Chinese Culture Week organized by MLCC and Mandarin Language Society, UMP in cooperation with Department of Student Affairs & Alumni, Centre for Modern Languages Human Sciences and Sin Chew Daily will be holding opening ceremony  and Inter Varsities Mandarin Speaking Competition  today, 23.11.2011.

The program advisor for Mandarin Speaking Competition, Ms Yong said, besides UMP, 6 other local universities were invited for the event. A total of 16 participants would take part in the speaking competition. She also said that the objective of the competition was to motivate the interest of learning Mandarin language among the beginner learners.

The Advisor for the Mandarin Language & Chinese Culture Week, Mr Chong added, the CultureWeek started on 18.11.2011 and would end on 24.11.2011.

There were six major activities including Cultural Exhibition, Inter Varsities Mandarin Speaking Competition, Inter Faculties Mandain Quiz, Chinese Tea Talk, Chinese movies and cultural workshops (Tai Chi Demonstration and Mandarin Song Workshop). - Chong Ah Kow

Faculty of Technology is the Champion team of the UMP Mandarin Language Quiz organised by Mandarin Language & Culture Centre and Mandarin Language Society in conjunction with the Mandarin Language & Chinese Culture Week 2011.

The Faculty was represented by Sdri. Aidaiyu bt Ahmad, Sdri. Nur Shazlin bt Mohd Zarain and Sdri. Wan Najwa Hanim bt Wan Ahmad. They beat two other teams namely Mechanical Engineering Faculty and Computer Software Engineering Faculty in the final. Computer Software Engineering Faculty secured the second place while Mechanical Engineering Faculty the third.

The First place will receive cash prize of RM150, the second RM100 and the third RM60. All participants will receive a certificate. The following is the list of representatives of winning faculties:
