China Scholarship Online Workshop

19 June 2020 - Confucius Institute Universiti Malaysia Pahang (CI UMP) and Pahang State Branch of Malaysia Chinese Cultural Association jointly organized an online briefing China Scholarship Workshop through Zoom from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Participants included high school graduates, high school students and parents from Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Kedah attended the online workshop.

The workshop introduced six China universities, including Hebei University, Yanshan University, Ningxia University, Lanzhou University of Technology, Hainan Normal University, and Guangxi University for Nationalities. There are universities of comprehensive, science and engineering, education, and ethnic. These six universities had excellent comprehensive evaluation in nearly 3,000 universities in China, and provide very good university scholarships for Malaysian high school graduates.

Professor Dr. Guo Fuliang (Director China, CI UMP) introduce these six universities including location of the city, programme offer, contents of the scholarship, requirements and application methods for the scholarship. Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director Malaysia, CI UMP) explained the types of scholarships for studying in China. At the same time, the requirements for HSK scores required for applying for scholarships in China. She also introduced Chinese Test Centre of UMP provide HSK Test and HSK Intensive courses offered by CI UMP.

In the Q& A session, the participants actively asked questions. Both directors CI UMP patiently meticulously answered the questions proposed by participants which included advantages and characteristics of the six Universities related to the scholarship application, programme choices, scholarship application deadline, as well as the HSK test preparation, HSK registration, etc. Some high school students took part to understand the application process for studying abroad in advance to prepare for studying in China next year.
In concluding speech, Dato’ David Lee Yong Wei, Chairman of the Pahang State Branch of Malaysian Chinese Cultural Association, thanked CI UMP for actively preparing for this online briefing during the epidemic. He hoped high school graduates take good opportunity for applying scholarship to realize their dreams of studying in China.
