Candidates UMP won Outstanding Performance Award in The Malaysian Preliminary 19th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition
27 June 2020 –The Malaysian Preliminary Contest of the 19th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students organized by Kongzi Institute Universiti Malaya and Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. The competition was held online through Zoom application and Facebook Live. A total of 19 competitors from 7 universities took part in this competition.Four representatives from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) won Outstanding Performance Award and Excellent Performance Award respectively. They were Nurul Shabilla Shaherra Binti Muhammad Asri Tan (CD17058), Danial Haqueem Lim Bin Mohamad Alif Lim (SB18071), Alleyssa Syafinas Binti Mazlan (KA19153) and Wan Asnida Izzaty Binti Che Mohd Nordin (KA17249).In opening speech, Mr. Zhang Zhen (Cultural Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia) express that learning Mandarin is the better way to understand China and benefit for future career planning. He expressed that this year is the 46th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. Both countries have demonstrated sincere and profound friendship in fighting the pandemic together. He hopes that all contestants and Mandarin learners contribute on friendship between China and Malaysia.The competition consisted of three parts including Chinese cultural quiz, Mandarin speech and Q&A, and talent performance. For morning session, the organizers conducted an online quiz and broadcasted the talent performances recorded in advance by participants. For afternoon session, it is Mandarin speech and Q&A with theme of "One World, One Family" by participants.All representatives from UMP were excited at the end of the competition. They expressed that they had gained a lot improvement in learning Mandarin and speak Mandarin confidently. They also sincerely thanked Mr. Li Xin, Mr. Shen Guoqing, Ms. Xujinzhi and Ms. Yang Liuping (China language teachers) for their guidance and preparing UMP students for this competition.Professor Dr. Guo Fuliang and Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director, Confucius Institute UMP) appreciated China language teachers effort and contribution in training UMP candidates for this competition although they are occupied with online classes.By: Fatin Zahirah Binti Mansur |
