Mandarin Language for Health Services

1. COURSE SINOPSIS:

The course is intended for staff in health services like doctors, dentists, medical officers and nurses who wish to learn to speak Mandarin for communication purposes in their workplace either with their colleges or patients. Course contents include two parts: everyday conversations and Mandarin for health services and each part presents relevant vocabulary, simple language patterns and effective strategies for everyday communication related to workplace and social settings. Participants will be given extensive practice activities in listening and speaking while reading and writing are also given to enhance the learning of the oral skills. Relevant cultural contents are also included at appropriate points.

2. COURSE OBJECTIVES

 Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. use appropriate social greeting and introduce oneself;                   
2. talk about one’s family;
3. talk about one’s daily activities in selected situation;                                   
4. inquire and describe about one’s health conditions;
5. state conditions of a clean environment;
6. talk about an infectious disease.
   

3. COURSE DURATION

This course consists of 30 contacts hours which can be conducted in two ways :

1. 8 Saturday classes: (for first 6 classes, the class time will be from 9 am-1.00 pm and the last two classes from 9 am – 12pm);
2. 5 days intensive course.
   

4.PROSPECTIVE    

Staff in health services like doctors, dentists, medical officers and nurses who wish to learn to speak Mandarin for communication purposes in their workplace either with their colleges or patients.

5. PROPOSED VENUE:

MLCC/CMLHS MULTIMEDIA LABS (Negotiable)

6. CERTIFICATE

Candidates who have successfully completing the course will be awarded Mandarin Language for Health Services certificate by MLCC.

7. FEES :

RM350/per student

Fees stated are calculated based on a minimum of 10 students per class and inclusive of modules and registration cost.    

Class can be conducted outside UMP campus with extra charges on transportation and cost of venue.
