Visiting of Chinese New Year Open House

On 19February 2015, which was the first day of Chinese New Year, Mandarin Language & Culture Centre (MLCC) organized a trip to YH Dato’ Sri Lee Jin Xian’s open house. He is the President of Malaysian Chinese Culture Association for Pahang branch. The trip comprised of 6 foreign students and 12 lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and was lead by Wang Xiaozhi, a volunteer teacher from MLCC. The guests of the day were served mouthwatering Chinese, Malay as well as vegetarian cuisine. The students were really enjoying the festiveness of Chinese New Year celebration especially when they received ‘Hong Bao’(red packets), a monetary gift which is given during holidays or special occasions, from the host. Besides, they also had the chance to watch the lion dance performance and observed the way Chinese greeted each other during Chinese New Year.

MLCC Promotional Program at Jom Masuk IPT Carnival 2015

On 14 and 15 February 2015, the MLCC joint Department of Academic Management, UMP in the Jom Masuk IPT Carnival 2015, Pahang Zone, which was held at Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Center (SASICC), Kuantan. The objective of joining the carnival was to promote the Mandarin courses offered by the MLCC. Among the MLCC programs promoted during the carnival included Mandarin Short Courses, Preparatory Course for Hebei University, China Further Studies Program as well as Intensive Mandarin and Tour Twinning Program. Realizing the importance of Mandarin as one of the most-spoken world languages, MLCC took the opportunity to expose the general public to the need to learn the language as a second language. MLCC aimed at attracting high school students and working individuals. Among CMLHS associates who lend their hands during the carnival were Chong Ah Kow, Wang Xiaozhi and Nornashua Farhani binti Abdul Ghaffar.
