UMP Students Are Committed in International Community Service
Monday, 16 November 2015|Yong Ying Mei Edited by: Mohd Shafeirul Zaman Bin Abd Majid UMP Students Are Committed in International Community Service On 11 November 2015, 10 students from various faculties in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) had participated in community service at Baoding Eastern Bilingual School, Hebei, China. They had worked together in organising four English practical classes on Basic English language for 120 pupils. All pupils are from four Chinese arts classes’ namely Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paper cutting, Ching seal making and Chinese painting. Baoding Eastern Bilingual School, Hebei, China is a private school containing levels as pre-school, primary school and secondary school. All the students learn English as a foreign language.
To encourage the pupils to practise English with UMP students, a creative approach was used as to create an interactive learning environment where they taught Chinese arts to UMP students using English as the medium of language. The mission for international community service was held in conjunction with Students Mobility Program to Hebei, China during semester break from 8 November 2015 until 14 November 2015. It was planned by Ms Yong Ying Mei with Cooperation College of International Education & Exchange (CIEE), Hebei University, China. Also present during the program were Madam Jia Li, principal of Baoding Eastern Bilingual School, Hebei, China and Mrs Wang Lixia, Head of Department of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, College of International Education & Exchange (CIEE), Hebei University, China. Madam Jia had really appreciate the effort from UMP students to join the event and it has encourage the pupils to study hard as UMP students have been the role model for them. Madam Jia also mentioned that International Community Service is a new experience for her school and she welcomes UMP delegation to come again. This programme was conducted successfully and had achieved University’s objectives as well as KRA 4: Branding for Strategic Positioning. |
