UMP Delegation Visit to Hebei University of Science & Technology (HEBUST)
On 10 Nov 2015, a total of 10 students from various faculties in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) had paid a visit to Hebei University of Science & Technology (HEBUST), Shijiazhuang, China in conjunction with Students’ Mobility Programme in Hebei University (HBU), Baoding, China. The delegation was welcomed by Professor Dr. Guo Fuliang, Dean for College of International Education & Exchange (CIEE), Hebei University. The objective of the programme is to get an insight about engineering courses at HEBUST.
It was one day visit to HEBUST in Shijiazhuang, which was about 140 km from HBU. UMP students were fortunate to experience the comfort and speed of 300 km/hour fast train between Baoding and Shijiazhuang. They were invited to visit laboratories of Chemical and Pharmacy Engineering Faculty, Material Science Engineering Faculty, Civil Engineering Faculty, workshop of Aeronautics Model Society and gallery. Interestingly, all the laboratories displayed safety tip to remind students of safety steps.
UMP students were amazed with the laboratories of Chemical and Pharmacy Engineering Faculty as it is an experiment centre to produce Chinese herb in tablets and liquid. Besides that, UMP students also had an interactive session with HEBUST students in doing experiment in Material Science Engineering Faculty.
The students admired the creativity and innovation of products on lectures and students from HEBUST when they visited the gallery. An interactive slot with students from workshop of Aeronautics Model Society had opened UMP students’ mind for their ability to create and design aeroplane model and managed to win several prizes in international competitions.
Also present was Mr Yin Guanru, Chinese language teacher in Hebei University, China and Ms Yong Ying Mei, a senior language teacher in Centre for Modern Languages and Human Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. This programme was successfully conducted and had achieved University objectives as well as KRA 1: Enhancement of Academic Quality.
