17 April 2020 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) received masks from Ningxia University (NXU) for frontline staff of UMP to use during their working at UMP. Cooperation between UMP and NXU began in year 2014 especially in student mobility program which involves both students of universities exchange for a semester. Both universities also collaborate on staff exchange, research and etc. 

Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director Confucius Institute) said that 1000 masks sent to UMP Health Center. Ms. Xu Jinzhi (Chinese teacher of Confucius Institute) represents donated masks to Ms. Noor Hasniza Binti Hamizah (Assistant Medical Officer) who represent UMP Health Center.
Meanwhile, Professor He Jianguo (President NXU) wishes UMP staff and students in good health and hope Malaysia fight the COVID-19 successfully. Associate Professor Ma Xiaoling (Deputy Director, Office of Domestic & Foreign Affairs NXU) appreciated of UMP take care of 17 students who were enrolled in mobility program at Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, UMP Pekan. In addition, UMP also give a hand to assist two NXU lecturers exchange at Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology at UMP Gambang to buy the foods during Movement Control Order in Malaysia.
Professor Ir Dr. Wan Azhar Bin Wan Yusoff (Vice Chancellor UMP) express grateful to NXU donated masks. UMP also take care welfare of local and international students especially mobility students from Ningxia University stay at UMP Pekan campus now. UMP provide foods for all students. In 2018, the Ministry of Higher Education China awarded the International Teaching Award (Second Place) to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for teaching model of student mobility program between UMP and NXU conducted successfully from year 2014 to 2018.

07 April 2020 – First batch of 1000 masks and 100 jumpsuits contributed by Hebei University (HBU) arrived at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Ms. Yong Ying Mei (Director Confucius Institute) said HBU post masks and jumpsuits to UMP since Malaysia had been enforced Movement Control Order (MCO).

Hebei University (HBU) knows that shortage of mask and medical facilities on market during pandemic of Covid-19. Therefore, Professor Dr Kang Le (President HBU), Professor Dr Shen Shigang (Vice President HBU) and Professor Dr Meng Qingyu (Vice President HBU) decided contribute more masks to UMP. The second batch of 1000 masks on the way post by HBU which is a partner university to collaborate Confucius Institute UMP.

Professor Ir Dr. Wan Azhar Bin Wan Yusoff (Vice Chancellor UMP) express grateful to HBU donated masks and jumpsuits. Previously UMP contributed 10 thousand pieces medical gloves to Hebei University, China due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in China. This is opportunity to showcase the strong ties forged between UMP & HBU. Priority for masks and jumpsuits to be given to UMP’s frontliners especially medical staff, security guard and those involved directly in frontline.
